I’ve been thinking about putting something similar together in the U.S. (I live in Atlanta, Georgia), and was looking for ideas from people who had put one together with some success. I know of a number of social web clubs that meet periodically. My youngest brother even met his current girlfriend at one a couple of years ago. They usually spring out of some chat room that has formed around a particular geographic location. However, I’m looking to put together something with a bit more kick to it. There are a number of micro-breweries in the area, and I’m considering trying to get a group started that will meet at a different brewery or restaurant once a month or two to check some of these out and talk about beer generally. I also know a few people who do their own home-brewing, and it might be cool to involve their creations as well. Any suggestions or information about problems that you guys have encountered since you started up?
